User Interface (UI) Improvements
Support Crossref submission via UI, so that more clients can take advantage of this service.
Continuous improvement of UI feature-set, including:
Adding link-checking reporting to the dashboard–delivered November 2016
Supporting creating and managing DataCite metadata version 4.0 records–in progress, March 2017
Configuring interface preference options in account settings
Application Programming Interface (API) Improvements
Support programming frameworks that are in common use by providing additional metadata submission options (e.g., JSON) and retrieval mechanisms (e.g., content negotiation).
Make processing by external workflows, systems, and applications more effective, by adding new batch-oriented functionality (such as bulk minting, bulk updates, and rule-based operations).
Strengthen identifier persistence by rolling out a regular link checking service.–delivered November 2016
Enhance EZID’s status options to provide the comparable functionality to Crossref’s new Early Content Registration process.
Upgrade support to DataCite metadata version 4.0.–backend support completed, February 2017
Add a sitemap for public ARK identifiers with metadata to enhance their discovery.
Add EZID support for suffix pass-through.
Improve N2T’s and EZID’s reliability and redundancy by implementing a high availability (HA) server architecture.–in progress, Spring 2017
Increase the utility of one or more legacy identifier schemes by adding support in EZID and N2T.
Community and outreach objectives
Seek communities and partners to broaden the support base for EZID and N2T while promoting scalable long-term growth (e.g., replication).
Work with partners to explore support for hard identifier-related problems, such as long lists of authors, contributors, etc., or multiple destinations for resolution, by engaging in community discussions, collaborating in projects, and presenting at workshops and conferences.
